Immigration and Visas

We reserve the right to request evidence of your immigration status annually and in compliance with the United Kingdom Border Agency (UKBA) guidelines. In addition to other clauses bothering on immigration which have been cited in the Student Handbook, the following issues are of great importance which students need to familiarise themselves with.
Studying in the United Kingdom
The adult (also known as general) student category is for people coming to the United Kingdom for post-16 education. You and your approved education provider can agree whether you apply as an adult or child student if you are 16 or 17 years old and studying a course a National Qualification Framework level 3 or the same as or above. From 1 October 2009, would-be students applying from outside the United Kingdom must show that they have held the required money for a 28-day period ending no more than one month before the date of their application.

· keep each student's contact details and update them as necessary;
· report any students who fail to enrol on their course to us within the enrolment period;
· report any unauthorised student absences;

Duties of students at the SCIMD College of Medicine
- Comply with all the policies and procedures contained in the College
Handbook for Students
- Comply with all the immigrations regulations (for Tier 4 category
students)
Tier 4 migrants are allowed to undertake supplementary courses such as evening classes. These supplementary courses do not need to relate to their main course of study. A migrant does not need to get UKBA permission or inform the College before they undertake a supplementary course, but they must ensure that they continue to meet the conditions of their permission to study, while their studentship lasts in the College. Students who do not comply with any part of the immigration issues will be reported to the UKBA by the College.
Change of circumstances form
This explains when you should use the change of circumstances form or the points-based system, what information you need to complete it and where you should send it, if you are inside the United Kingdom.
